General

"There are two assessments made when taking blood pressure: the systolic reading (high number), which indicates the pressure in the arteries when the heart is actively pumping, and the diastolic reading (low number), which indicates the pressure when the heart is at rest. Normal blood pressure during pregnancy ranges from 90/50 to 140/90, although readings higher than 130/80 or a steady rise from baseline are cause for concern." [1]
